‘Smallville’ Cast to Reunite at New York Comic-Con 2020

The main cast of the hit Superman prequel series Smallville will reunite at this year’s New York Comic Con, Screen Rant has confirmed. Entitled “20 Years of Fandom, Friendship, & Flying,” the panel will feature the cast reminiscing on their time work and giving fans ideas of what’s to come.

Smallville first premiered on October 16th, 2001. The series focuses on Clark Kent (played by Tom Welling, Lucifer) discovering his true identity as the last son of Krypton and the incredible power that he wields. He soon chooses to use this power for good, but must learn the ways of his people and how to be a superhero. Initially, the series remained in Kent’s hometown of Smallville and followed his adventures in high school. Over time, the series moved to Metropolis, where Kent dealt with more dangerous supervillains and real-world issues.

The virtual panel will feature five members of the main cast, with Welling headlining. Among them are: Michael Rosenbaum (Impastor), who played Kent’s best friend turned archnemesis Lex Luthor, Erica Durance (Saving Hope), who played Kent’s future love interest Lois Lang, Laura Vandervoort (V), who played Kent’s cousin and future superhero Supergirl; and Sam Witwer (Star Wars: The Clone Wars), who played the human disguise for the supervillain Doomsday.

While initially polarizing, Smallville has become one of the most popular adaptations of Superman. The series is beloved for being a more low-key take on the larger-than-life superhero, focusing on his roots. The series is one of the longest running superhero shows in history, with 217 episodes over 10 seasons from 2001-2011. Most recently, Welling and Durance reprised their roles for a cameo in last year’s Crisis on Infinite Earths.

New York Comic-Con will be held from October 8th to 11th this year. This panel (and the entire convention) will be held virtually due to COVID-19 constraints. An exact date and time for the Smallville panel has not been announced.
