The world of Westeros is ever expanding, with the latest installment, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms shifting from towering dragons and greedy rulers to more of an underdog story. Stated by Screenrant, this spin-off takes place several years prior from the two series and will follow the journey of the unlikely pair of Ser Duncan, played by Peter Claffey (Wreck, Bad Sisters) and his squire, Egg, played by Dexter Ansell (The Midwich Cuckoos, Robin and the Hoods) who traverse the land and leave their mark.

Reported by Screenrant, the squire himself, Dexter goes onto speak in an interview on X about what this narrative will differ from its predecessors and goes on to state about his character’s growth,” All the other squires, they’re 10 times bigger than Egg. […] But Egg realizes you don’t actually need to be strong. As long as you’re a helping hand to your knight.” His statement , as well as the release footage symbolize that their journey will not only strengthen their bond, but how they will grow throughout their travel.
The series will no doubt be filled with intense action sequences. Revealed by Screenrant, other members of the main cast that will be joining Peter and Dexter will feature Sam Spruell (The Gold, Good People), Finn Bennett (Kiri, Liar) and Tanzyn Crawford (Swift Street, Servant). The first season will have a total of six episodes, but has already been greenlit for a second season.
The upcoming spin-off offers a refreshing return of the human element within George R.R. Martin’s (Nightflyer, Doorways) universe, reminding us that a compelling narrative doesn’t always require mythical creatures to engage viewers. While waiting on the debut of the series which is scheduled for January 18, viewers can watch the entirety Game of Thrones and House of the Dragons on HBO Max.
