‘Silo:’ Apple TV+ Releases Teaser for Rebecca Ferguson-Led Series Based on Hugh Howey’s Novel

Apple TV+ released the first look at its upcoming sci-fi mystery series, Silo, starring Rebecca Ferguson (Dune, Reminiscence), according to The Playlist. The series is based on Hugh Howey’s (Halfway Home, Shift) best-selling novel, Wool. View the teaser trailer below.

The series is set in a dark dystopian future where humans exist deep underground, living in a man-made silo. They do not know the exact origins of the structure, but mythos has told life above the surface is too dangerous. The new colony follows stringent beliefs and rules to keep society operating accordingly.

Ferguson stars as Juliette, an engineer in this commune who begins to question the system around her after a loved one is murdered. She is joined by Tim Robbins’(Castle Rock, Jacob’s Ladder) head of IT, Bernard; David Oyelowo’s (The Water Man, Don’t Let Go) Holston, the sheriff of the underground compound; Rashida Jones (Parks and Recreation, Black AF) as Alison, Holston’s wife; and, Common’s (Hell on Wheels, Never Have I Ever) Sims, Silo’s Head of Security.

In 2021, three more actors were added to the cast. Harriet Walter (Succession, Killing Eve) will portray Martha Walker, a veteran engineer and member of the community’s Mechanical team. Avi Nash (The Walking Dead, Barry) has been cast as IT worker Lukas Kyle. And Chinaza Uche (Dickinson, Nigerian Prince) is Paul Billings who works with the society’s judicial sector.

The series, produced by AMC Studios, is an adaptation of Howey’s Silo series which was first published in 2012. In addition to Wool, two other books were written to complete the trilogy.

Ferguson is listed as an executive producer alongside writer Graham Yost (Boomtown, Justified) and director Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game, Headhunters). Additional producers include Remi Aubuchon (24, Caprica), Fred Golan (Falling Skies, October 22), Ingrid Escajeda (Sneaky Pete, APB), and Nina Jack (Better Call Saul, Out of Time).

Silo is set for a spring premiere on May 5 exclusively on Apple TV+, according to The Playlist.
