‘Silk: Spider Society’ Is Put On Hold At Amazon

According to Comicbook, Amazon recently put hold on their new series Silk: Spider Society. On Tuesday, it was stated in a report that Amazon Studios is being threatened with a lawsuit due to keeping the series on hold after the end of the Writers Guild of America strike, which ran through most of the year and ended earlier this fall. In the report, it also stated that the series is one of many from the studio that continues to be suspended.

According to Comicbook, although the series was reportedly put on hold, in recent updates it was shown that it was still in the works. Angela Kang (The Walking Dead) is set to write, produce, and be the showrunner for the series. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who are known for working on Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, will also be attached to the project.

According to Comicbook, the series will follow the story of Marvel Comics’ Cindy, Moon a Korean-American woman who is bitten by the same spider that bit Peter Parker. While going through different struggles and finding joy in taking out her frustration by beating up criminals, she tries to not only find her lost family but also have a deeper connection with them.

Amazon’s Katherine Pope (New Girl) revealed in an interview earlier this year, “It’s a huge focus certainly for all of us here and for me in particular. I was already a fan of Kang, so I’m really, really excited to be working with her on Silk. She’s just brilliant and a total pro. This is also an example of working really closely with Tom Rothman (The Program) and Sanford Panitch (Se7ven), and the motion picture group, to make sure that we are in lockstep with them and also executing at the same level. They’ve done such an incredible job with that franchise, so we want to make sure we’re executing at that level.”
