Showtime’s ‘Desus & Mero’ To End After Four Seasons Amid Split

The Showtime late night talk show Desus & Mero has announced that the show will be ending after four seasons, according to a tweet from the show’s official Twitter account. The tweet also said that the two comedians would be pursuing separate creative endeavors.

The talk show featured comedians Desus Nice, born Daniel Baker, and The Kid Mero, born Joel Martinez. This was the third network their show had been on as the show started on Complex TV in 2014 then moved to Viceland in 2016. In 2019, the two signed a deal with to move the show to Showtime and have since made over 170 episodes. This season, the show’s on-screen time was cut in half as it went from being aired twice a week to weekly.

A spokeswoman for Showtime released a statement to Deadline on the comedic duo splitting and ending their show.

“Desus Nice and The Kid Mero will be pursuing separate creative endeavors moving forward. Showtime’s late-night talk show Desus & Mero will not be returning for a fifth season,” the spokeswoman told the site. “Desus Nice and The Kid Mero have made a name for themselves in comedy and in the late-night space as quick-witted cultural commentators. Throughout its run, the series won a WGA Award, received Critics’ Choice nominations and scored interviews with President Barack Obama, President Joe Biden, Derek Jeter, Missy Elliott, Denzel Washington, Charlize Theron, David Letterman, Yo-Yo Ma and many more. They have been brilliant hosts, and we wish them the best, along with the team at Jax Media and the incredible crew.”

The specific reason for the split is currently unclear and it is not yet known what the two have planned for the future.
