Showtime’s upcoming new series Penny Dreadful: City of Angels has released its premiere episode for free viewing on multiple online platforms, according to Deadline. Aimed at Sunday, April 26 premiere date, the series is a spin-off from Penny Dreadful which aired on Showtime for three seasons ending in 2016. The show will follow LAPD Detective Tiago Vega as he investigates a horrific murder that occurred during the Golden Age of Hollywood, the late 1930s. Created by John Logan (Gladiator and Penny Dreadful), the thriller series will incorporate similar themes to its parent show and a twist of social tension among the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles. Penny Dreadful: City of Angels’ cast includes the likes of Daniel Zovatto (It Follows and Here and Now) as Detective Vega in addition to Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones) as supernatural demon Magda. The additional cast comprises Kerry Bishé (Scrubs and Argo), Adriana Barraza (Babel), Jessica Garza (The Purge), Michael Gladis (Mad Men), Rory Kinnear (Black Mirror and Skyfall), and Nathan Lane (Lion King).
The first season of Penny Dreadful: City of Angels will consist of ten episodes with the first one airing on Sunday, April 26 at 10 PM ET on Showtime. Yet, for fans eager to view the new drama series, they can stream the premiere episode in its entirety on either the Showtime website and the Showtime Youtube Channel for free.
