Showtime Networks has released the announcement that the comedy series The Curse has received a series order, according to a Showtime Press Release. The half-hour comedy program comes from the minds of Nathan Fielder (Nathan For You, How To with John Wilson) and Josh and Benny Safdie (Uncut Gems, Good Time). The announcement also included that the Academy Award-winning actress Emma Stone (Easy A, La La Land) will star in the series in addition to being an executive producer on the project.
The Curse is created by Fielder and Benny Safdie and will be executive produced by the duo, Stone, and Benny’s brother Josh in addition to A24’s Ravi Nandan (Euphoria, Ramy). The series follows a married couple that hosts a home improvement television show. The married couple is in the midst of trying to start a family and conceive a child but are affronted by an apparent curse that is causing difficulties throughout all facets of their lives. In addition to Stone starring in the series, Benny Safdie is also set to star in the upcoming Showtime comedy series.
Currently, it is unknown when production will start for the new Showtime comedy. Yet, the announcement adds to the growing relationship between A24 and Showtime following the release of Moonbase 8 that the two collaborated on.
