Showtime Announces a Stephen Colbert Live Election Show

The premium network channel Showtime will air a live election show hosted by the late-night talk show host Stephen Colbert (The Daily Show, Colbert Report), according to a Showtime press release. Entitled Stephen Colbert’s Election Night 2020: Democracy’s LAst StandL Building Back American great Again Better 2020, the special election episode will be an hour-long piece and will air on election day, Tuesday, November 3 at 11 PM EST. 

Colbert is known for his role as the late-night talk show host on CBS for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert since 2015. He has involved himself as a comedic television host through roles as a correspondent under Jon Stewart at The Daily Show and his spin-off political satire series The Colbert Report, both at Comedy Central. This election special follows up on his previous effort in 2016 entitled Stephen Colbert’s Live Election Night Democracy’s Series finale: Who’s Going to Clean Up This Sh*t? which also aired on Showtime. 

The 2020 election special will feature the talk show host giving his real-time reactions to the vote returns in each state and will be viewed live from his studio, a bunker. The presentation will be in a virtual format following COVID-19 guidelines and will not include a live audience. His special will include guest appearances from radio host Charlamagne Tha God, Showtime’s Mark McKinnon (The Circus), Showtime’s Alex Wagner (The Circus), and MSNBC and Showtime’s John Heilemann (The Circus) in addition to providing reactions to the 2020 Presidential Election results.
