According to Screen Rant, Noah Hawley (Lucy in the Sky, Lies and Alibis), showrunner of FX’s Alien: Earth, revealed future plans for the series. In an interview with Variety, Hawley details his long-term vision for the series. He believes that season 1 is “the proof of concept.” If the series is picked up for another season, it would lay the groundwork for additional outings.
As per Screen Rant, Alien: Earth is set in 2120, two years before the events of Ridley Scott’s (The Martian, Blade Runner) classic movie Alien, and will see the famous Xenomorphs coming to Earth for the first time in the franchise. The upcoming series features a Weyland-Yutani ship crashing on Earth, with multiple unknown alien species as part of its cargo.
According to Screen Rant, cast of the series includes Sydney Chandler (Don’t Worry Darling, Pistol) as Wendy. Alex Lawther (Black Mirror, The Imitation Game) as CJ, Timothy Olyphant (A Perfect Getaway, Terminator Zero) as Kirsh, Essie Davis (Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Matrix Revolution) as Dame Silvia, Samuel Blenkin (Mary & George, Atlanta) as Boy Kavalier, Babous Ceesay (Eye in the Sky, We Hunt Together) as Morrow, Kit Young (The School for Good and Evil, The Beautiful Game) as Tootles, Adarsh Gourav (My Name is Khan, Kho Gaye Hum Kahan) as Slightly and many others.
As per Screen Rant, in the interview with Variety, Hawley said, “Season 1 is the proof of concept. And if it works commercially, then season 2 is about building a model upon which we can envision making a season 3, 4, 5. Alien: Earth is designed to be a recurring series. I don’t know how many seasons that would be. I believe that endings are what give a story meaning, so I have a sense of where I’m going with it.”
According to Screen Rant, although Hawley did not give a specific number of seasons that he has planned out for the series, he believes that “endings are what give a story meaning” and has an idea where everything is heading.
Alien: Earth will premiere on FX on August 12.
