‘Sex Education’ Season Three Announces September 17 Premiere Date at Netflix

The trials and tribulations of the students at Moordale Secondary School continue as season three of Sex Education will arrive on Netflix Friday, September 17, 2021. The streamer announced  the release date on Thursday morning in addition to sharing first look photos of the upcoming season, as reported by Deadline

Netflix tweeted the news on Thursday, while also sharing photos of all the beloved characters back in uniform: “The wait is almost over! Sex Education Season 3 premieres September 17 — FIRST LOOK:..” See Netflix’s full post below:

Season three will see the return of all characters audiences have come to love, in addition to some new faces. Deadline picked up the official synopsis: “It’s a new year, Otis is having casual sex, Eric and Adam are official, and Jean has a baby on the way. Meanwhile, new headteacher Hope (played by Jemima Kirke) tries to return Moordale to a pillar of excellence, Aimee discovers feminism, Jackson gets a crush and a lost voicemail still looms. Prepare for commitment animals, alien phenomena, vulva cupcakes and much more of Madam Groff.” 

Sex Education stars Asa Butterfield (Hugo), Emma Mackey (Death of the Nile), Ncuti Gatwa (Stonemouth), Aimee Lou Wood (Uncle Va0 nya), Kedar Williams-Stirling (Wolfblood), Connor Swindells (Jamestown), Tanya Reynolds (Emma), Patricia Allison (Unprecendted), Alistair Petrie (The Night Manager), and Gillian Anderson (The X-Files). Season three will also see the addition of new characters, played by Jemima Kirke (Smile for the Camera), Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter, The OA), and the singer-songwriter Dua Saleh. The series is written and created by Laurie Nunn (Gone to Earth).

Butterfield, who portrays the charming but clueless Otis, tweeted on Thursday:“Buckle up buckaroos. Today is the day.” Wood also reposted the Netflix first look photo of herself as Aimee and Mackey as Maeve on Instagram, writing: “September 17th. Get yer blazers on, change is coming.” Wood just won the BAFTA Television Award for For Best Female Comedy Performance for her performance in the second season of Sex Education. The third season will consist of eight episodes.
