‘Sex Education’ Season 3 Trailer: Jemima Kirke is the New Headmistress in Moordale Secondary School Ad

School is back in session as season three of Sex Education released its first trailer on Monday morning. The Netflix comedy-drama series is headed back to Moordale Secondary School with a new headmistress this time, played by Jemima Kirke (Girls), as reported by Indiewire

The trailer for season three is a spoof, posing as an ad for Moordale Secondary School. All the characters are back, but not in the way we are used to. They smile awkwardly into the camera, advertising their school and why it’s such a great place to be. Alongside the students is the new headmistress, Hope, played by Kirke, as she encourages kids to come learn at her school. Polished and pristine with a welcoming smile, her plan is not perfectly executed as the students in typical fashion have their own ideas on how to present themselves in an appropriate way.

Otis, portrayed by Asa Butterfield (Hugo), is back in all his awkward glory as he kicks off the ad smiling right into the camera. He’s followed by appearances made from the unimpressed Maeve, played by Emma Mackey (Death on the Nile), Aimee, played by Aimee Lou Gibbs, and Adam, played by Connor Swindells (Emma). The newly formed couple Ola and Lily also return, portrayed by Patricia Allison (Unprecidented) and Tanya Reynolds (Emma) respectively. And last but not least former jock turned theatre kid, Jackson, played by Kedar Williams-Sterling (Small Axe), is back and seems to have a crush on the new headmistress.

One surprising cameo is made by the former disgraced headmaster, Mr. Groff, played by Alistair Petrie (The Terror), as he spies on the making of the ad. Notably missing from the trailer are the two fan favorite characters of the series, Eric, played by Ncuti Gatwa (Stonemouth), and Otis’s mother Jean, played by the one and only Gillian Anderson (The Crown).

Though the first trailer for the third season does not reveal any of the major going-on’s in what’s to come, Indiewire picked up the official synopsis: “It’s a new year, Otis is having casual sex, Eric and Adam are official, and Jean has a baby on the way. Meanwhile, new headteacher Hope (played by Jemima Kirke) tries to return Moordale to a pillar of excellence, Aimee discovers feminism, Jackson gets a crush and a lost voicemail still looms. Prepare for commitment animals, alien phenomena, vulva cupcakes, and much more of Madam Groff.”

Season three of Sex Education will debut on Netflix September 17. Watch the first trailer below:
