In an interview with USA Today, Chris Noth (Sex and the City, Law & Order) has spoken his first words regarding the sexual abuse allegations made against him, according to CNN. Noth denies the allegations made in 2021, and states that he is only guilt of being unfaithful to his wife, nothing regarding the sexual misconduct allegations.
Noth stated, “I strayed on my wife, and it’s devastating to her and not a very pretty picture. What it isn’t is a crime.”
The two alleged victims accused Noth of alleged sexual assault via The Hollywood Reporter, the two women used pseudonyms to protect their privacy.
The alleged incidents Noth is accused of allegedly occurred in Los Angeles in 2004 and in New York in 2015. Both women stated that Noth’s role as Mr. Big in the Max series And Just Like That… encouraged the two alleged victims to come forward about the alleged sexual misconduct.
In a statement to CNN, Noth stated that, “The accusations against me made by individuals I met years, even decades, ago are categorically false. These stories could’ve been from 30 years ago or 30 days ago – no always means no – that is a line I did not cross. The encounters were consensual. It’s difficult not to question the timing of these stories coming out. I don’t know for certain why they are surfacing now, but I do know this: I did not assault these women.”
Noth also spoke out about the adultery committed against his wife, Tara Wilson, “You give yourself the same excuses that many men do; it’s just a little side dance, and it’s fun.” Noth continued the conversation by stating, “you’re not hurting anybody. No one’s going to know about this, you know, and sex is just enjoyable, and suddenly, a lot of people want to have sex with you. It’s like, ‘well, I’m not going to get this chance again.'”
Even though Noth was fired from the CBS show The Equalizer, he has yet to face any legal consequences. Noth has also been dropped from And Just Like That…. Sarah Jessica Parker (Failure to Launch, Footloose), among many other co-stars of the alleged abuser, released a statement in support of the alleged victims.
Noth states, according to CNN, “There’s nothing I can do to change anyone’s mind when you have that kind of a tidal wave.”
The 68-year-old actor also lost a $12 million deal with his tequila company and was dropped from a Peloton ad that featured him.
“It sounds defensive. I’m not. There’s no criminal court. There’s no criminal trial. There’s nothing for me to get on the stand about and get my story out, get witnesses,” Noth stated via CNN. He continues to deny all sexual misconduct allegations made against him.
