According to The Hollywood Reporter, Seth Rogen (This is the End) wrote many of the characters in his Apple TV+ series, The Studio. Still, he specially wrote Dave Franco’s (Now You See Me) role to generate more of a storyline for the character. When speaking with People, he shared how he wrote Franco’s storyline for a fictionalized version of Franco, a Hollywood action star and wild party animal.
Rogen said to People, “Honestly, there were very few people that could have filled the roles that the people had filled because we really specifically were catering the stories to certain traits that celebrities have.”
The Studio follows Matt Remick, a newly appointed head of a film production company called Continental Studios. Through the first season of the series, Matt realizes that he might be in over his head. The series includes a multitude of cameos from many celebrities.
Some of the cast members who make an appearance on the series include Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing, The Newsroom), Adam Scott (Severance, Parks and Recreation), Anthony Mackie (Twisted Metal, Captain America: Brave New World), Antony Starr (The Boys, Without a Paddle), Arthur Keng (Lucky Hank, As We See It), Bill Watterson (Dave Made a Maze, God of War), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, Malcom in the Middle), Charli D’Amelio (The Simpsons, StarDog and TurboCat), Charlize Theron (Tully, Mad Mx: Fury Road) and many others.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, one of the latest episodes of the series saw Franco partying at a Las Vegas event hosted by Rogen’s character ahead of the studio’s big CinemaCon presentation. Rogen said, “With Dave, it’s like, who do you believe would be in a Ron Howard movie? It’s a pretty dramatic movie, who could do that? But also, we knew that he would come back and do this truly ridiculous, stupid thing later in the season,”
The Studio is available to stream on Apple TV+; the first season’s final episode airs on May 21.
