According to Deadline, Sepideh Moafi (Notorious, Black Bird) has joined the series regular cast of The Pitt, HBO Max’s new hit medical drama. She will play an attending physician in emergency medicine.
The Pitt narrates the imminent crises and challenges that U.S. frontline healthcare professionals face at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center’s emergency department. The series is told through a real-time lens, hour-by-hour, offering a more realistic perspective on the medical cases and personal crises that the physicians and nurses go through while they are also dealing with too many patients and too few resources. The creator of the show is R. Scott Gemmill (ER, JAG) and the producer is John Wells (Burnt, The Company Men).
Gemmill teased Deadline about Season Two, which is currently in production, stating that it will take place over the Fourth of July weekend. He added that this season would involve a time jump, new characters, and potential promotions for the returning cast.
The recurring cast includes Irene Choi (Bleeding Heart, The Outdoorsman), Lucas Iverson (Boys Night, Love: Augmented), Charles Baker (Breaking Bad, Splinter), and Laëtitia Hollard (Ravel, Transaster).
Deadline adds that The Pitt is produced by John Wells Productions under a deal in association with Warner Bros. Television. Executive Producers include Wyle, Wells, Erin Jontow (Animal Kingdom, Emperor of Ocean Park), Simran Baidwan (Manifest, Ordinary Joe), and Michael Hissrich (The West Wing, My Own Worst Enemy).
Moafi recently starred as the female lead in FX/Hulu’s Class of ’09 as well as the Apple TV+ miniseries Black Bird. She is also well known for playing Gigi in Showtime’s The L Word: Generation Q. More of her TV credits include HBO’s The Deuce, ABC’s Notorious, USA’s Falling Water, ABC’s Black Box, and HBO Max’s animated series Scavengers Reign. Her film credits include Paramount+’s I’ll Be Right There and the Sundance Film Festival favorite The Killing of Two Lovers for Neon. Gersh Agency, Principal Entertainment LA, and Schreck Rose Dapello are representing her, Deadline notes.
