According to Dealine, Apple TV+ shuts down production on the second season of the comedic series The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin The series is being shut down due to actor Noel Fielding (Bunny and the Bull) pulling out of production three-quarters of the way through the shoot. Filming of the second season started in the fall but after the holiday season, Fielding did not return to continue production. As reported firstly by The Sun newspaper the producers of the series Big Talk Studios have disbanded the cast and crew.
The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin follows the re-telling of an 18th-century highwayman’s life. The main character Turnip is a thief who gains success due to his charm, showmanship, and great hair. He is followed by his lovable rouges a gang of other mischievous characters who ride with him through the highs and lows of his adventures.
The series is written by Fielding, Richard Naylor (Red Dwarf) and Jon Brittain (The Amazing World of Gumball). Fielding who plays the role of of Dick Turnip is joined by other cast members including Marc Wootton (Question Team) as Moose, Ellie White (Black Mirror) as Neil, Duayne Boachie (You Don’t Know Me) as Honesty, Mark Heap (Lark Rise to Candleford) as John Turnip, Michael Fielding (Merry Little Batman) as Benny, Asim Chaudhry (People Just Do Nothing) as Craig the Warlock, Kiri Flaherty (Der Irland-Krimi) as Little Karen and Dolly Wells (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) as Eliza Bean.
Fielding is known for his roles in series like The Mighty Boosh, The Great British Baking Show, Noel Fielding’s Luxury Comedy, The IT Crowd and many others.
Apple, Big Talk, and Fielding’s rep at PBJ Management have yet to give further comments on the series’ shutdown.
The first and now only season of The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin is available to stream on Apple TV+.
