Season Three Of ‘House of the Dragon’ Delay Confirmed By HBO’s President

House of the Dragon, the celebrated prequel to Game of Thrones, has been renewed for third season, but fans can expect to wait a while. The series is set 100 years from the events of the original series and follows the journey of House Targaryen, with two factions constantly at each other’s throats and seizing the iron throne.According to Comicbook, the anticipated third season of the renowned fantasy series has been pushed back and will not begin in 2025. It has now been rescheduled for 2026.

According to Comicbook, the CEO and President of Global Streaming at Warner Bros., JB Perrette, confirmed the news surrounding the series along with other shows at the Wells Fargo TMT Summit. He said, “As we look even beyond that, we’ll see the third season of Euphoria probably in early 2026, then we get back into House of the Dragon Season 3, so we’re now in a cadence of having at least 2 or 3 of our major tentpoles every year.” Despite this unfortunate setback, HBO and the creative team behind the show will take their time crafting the story and visuals, ensuring that season three will live up to the expectations of its predecessors.

According to Comicbook, season three will take place after the unexpected cliffhangers from the second season, where Rhaenyra, played by Emma D’Arcy (Truth Seekers), has assembled a new group of dragon riders for the upcoming war between the blacks and the greens. At the same time, fans see Daemon, played by Matt Smith (Doctor Who), gathering forces for an unknown purpose. The CEO has also given news on the additional spinoff, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2025.

While fans await further news on the third season, the entire first two seasons of House of the Dragon are available to stream on Max.
