According to Deadline, three more characters for The Last of Us has been casted ahead of the upcoming new season of the show.
Deadline has announced renowned actors John Goodman (Roseanne, Monsters, Inc.) as Joey and Ian Alexander (The QA, Star Trek: Discovery) as Paco, a duo in the series who call themselves “Heroes of the Highway”. Actress Laura Bailey (The Legend of Vox Machina, The Mighty Nein) has also been announced to be casted playing Elizabeth, who is one of the leaders of the Seraphites.
The Last of Us is a survival and horror drama set out 20 years after a global pandemic that resulted in dangerous zombies appearing over all around the world with no cure. The story follows Ellie, the main character in the series played by Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones, Hilda), who was the first human to show signs of immunity towards the disease and how she navigates this predicament in the post apocalyptic world with the people she choses to surround herself with.
This show is based on the popular video game franchise The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part II created by Neil Druckmann of Naughty Dog Studios (Uncharted, Jak & Daxter), to which Druckmann is also is a creative director and co-writer for the TV series as well.
Fans of the original video game the TV show is based on would recognize Alexander and Bailey, who Alexander originally played as Lev and Bailey who originally played Abby in the video game.
Also, for the fans of Pedro Pascual (The Mandalorian, The Fantastic Four: First Steps), who previously played Joel Miller, one of the original main characters of The Last of Us, Deadline stated “Pascal’s character Joel was killed in the Season 2 finale, so he could not physically appear in Season 3, but it’s possible he could appear in flashbacks. At this point, his return is uncertain.”
The Last of Us has already received 20+ nominations from the first two seasons alone. Fans are eager to see how season 3 will play out regarding the events from last season and with the rest of the story from the video game that has not been shown yet on the show.
The Last of Us does not have an official date announced yet for it’s season three release other than the show is scheduled to premiere on HBO in 2027. This gives time for fans to catch up or rewatch the series before next year. All 16 episodes of the show are available to watch now, streaming on HBO Max.
