According to Comicbook, DC Studio’s animated series Harley Quinn will be returning this month to Max on July 27th. The new season will take place shortly after Poison Ivy is accepted to run the Legion of Doom and Harley joined the Bat Family. The fourth season states that there will be “more sex, more drama, more Bane being Bane, and more Harlivy.”
Below is a Twitter post from DC showcasing the trailer for the upcoming season. The post reads, “Good and evil are about to get all tangled up together. Season four of #HarleyQuinn premieres July 27 on Max.”
According to Comicbook, when the animated series got renewed for a fourth season it also gained a new showrunner. Sarah Peters (Workaholics), who has been a writer of the series since season one as well as served as a consulting producer, was recently elevated to an executive producer and showrunner.
Creator Patrick Schumaker (Abbott Elementary) teases, “Sarah writes Ivy like no one else, and Season four will explore Ivy more than we have. There’s her new role with the Legion of Doom. There’s something Justin and I would not have immediately gone toward – I’m trying not to spoil anything – but she did an amazing job. Obviously, the show has benefited greatly from so many different female perspectives amongst the writers, and Sarah has always been very key. She’s written some of the most memorable, enduring episodes. She’s the one who brought Catwoman into the fold, she’s the one who wrote the Season two finale where Harley and Ivy go driving off from Ivy’s intended wedding with Kite Man, the bachelorette episode on Themyscira, our Season three premiere. Her grasp of Ivy and her ideas are things we certainly would never think of, and I’m really excited for people to get to see that.”
Harley Quinn the animated series follows the gory but hilarious adventures of Harley and her new team as they learn to work together while also dealing with internal issues along the way. The voice cast includes Kayley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory), Lake Bell (In a World..), Alan Tudyk (Firefly), Ron Funches (Trolls), Tony Hale (Arrested Development), Matt Oberg (The Bourne Legacy), Diedrich Bader (Office Space), J.B. Smoove (Hall Pass), Jim Rash (Community), Tisha Campbell (My Wife and Kids), and many more.
Harley Quinn season four will air on Max July 27th.
