Deadline reported that the Season 6 trailer for Grace and Frankie starts off with Lily Tomlin’s character ‘Frankie’ toasting newlyweds Grace (Jane Fonda) and Nick, played by Peter Gallagher. “Raise your glasses people, to the newlyweds, Grace and Nick!”, says Frankie, which seems to come as a surprise to everyone around.
Season six of the Netflix series starts with Frankie still processing the news that her partner in crime is now married.
Fonda (Grace) and Tomlin (Frankie) star in Grace and Frankie as two women whose lives are turned upside down when their husbands give them each surprising news about being gay and leave them for one another. Grace and Frankie then form an unlikely bond and lean on each other, hand and hand, as they face their uncertain futures together. Things are, however, unquestionably different in Season 6, given the fact that Grace is now newly married.
Production will begin for the seventh and final season in early 2020. When the show ends, roughly in 2021, it is said that it will be Netflix’s longest-running original series.
They’ve managed to stir up 11 Emmy nominations as well as six Screen Actors Guild Award nominations and a Golden Globe nomination for Tomlin’s performance.
Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris are credited as having created the series as well as exec produce with Paula Weinstein, John Hoffman, Billy Finnegan, Robbie Tollin, Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross.
Most recently Tomlin was arrested Friday, December 27th in the latest climate protest led by her Grace & Frankie co-star Jane Fonda. Demonstrators shouted “Lily! Lily” as Tomlin and more than a dozen other demonstrators occupied the steps of the Capitol after a rally.Fonda was not arrested this week, but she has been arrested in five previous protests. The protests have taken place even when Congress is out of session, and even during holiday time periods, like Friday’s event and another that was held the day after Thanksgiving.
Grace and Frankie Season 6 premieres globally January 15 on Netflix.
