Even with the sexual harassment allegations against Jeffrey Tambor (Maura Pfefferman), Amazon’s Transparent is going to have a fifth season. Costar to the show Judith Light (Shelly Pfefferman) said to Entertainment Weekly, “As far as what I can tell you right now, it looks like we’re going back for our fifth season. That’s all I really know, and that’s all I can really tell you. The truth is, I really don’t know more than that. I hope we do, and I’m pretty sure that we will.” Entertainment Weekly also said that Amazon confirmed Light’s statement about their being a season five to the series.
It is still unknown if Tambor will resume his role in the show. Neither Light or Amazon has answered that question definitively. One of the people accusing him of sexual harassment is a cast member on the show. Amazon has started an internal investigation on the matter. Tambor has also said, “This is no longer the job I signed up for four years ago. I’ve already made clear my deep regret if any action of mine was ever misinterpreted by anyone as being aggressive, but the idea that I would deliberately harass anyone is simply and utterly untrue. Given the politicized atmosphere that seems to have afflicted our set, I don’t see how I can return to Transparent.”
The series started in 2014. Transparent is a critically-adored drama. The first four seasons of the show can be found on Amazon, with the first episode available to stream for free.
