Silver screen vet, Garcelle Beauvais, has been tapped to join the ensemble cast for CBS All Access’ Tell Me a Story, for its second season outing— the actress is set to star in the role of a wicked evil stepmother in the fairy tale drama. Her recurring guest role will see her paired alongside Ashley Madekwe, as the hard-nosed businesswoman Veronica Garland in a send-up of the Cinderella tale.
Beauvais made her small screen debut alongside Jamie Foxx on the WB sitcom, The Jamie Foxx show, before playing ADA Valerie Heywood on the Emmy winning drama, NYPD Blue. Since then, the actress has made guest appearances on Freeform’s Siren and Syfy’s The Magicians, and had a short stint on Franklin & Bash before its cancellation.
The Kevin Williamson-led series’ second season will feature a trio of fairy-tale princesses from classics such as: Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella. Actor Paul Wesley will also return for a main role in Season 2 along with other new cast additions, Carrie-Ann Moss and Matt Lauria.
Moss is set to play Rebecca, the cold and uncaring matriarch of the Pruitt family, who after becoming widowed over a decade ago is forced to raise her three children alone. Through her struggles, she attempts to find balance between being tough on her girls or loving, leading to varying results.
Originals alum Danielle Campbell —who also appeared in a starring role in Tell Me a Story‘s first season— will return for Season 2 as a different character as well. The series’ first season saw a dark reimagining of fables: Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Little Pigs and Hansel and Gretel.
Campbell will take on the role of the “self-possessed, strong, smart and sly Olivia, who left small-town life behind and moved to Nashville to pursue her her master’s degree in Philosophy and Comparative Literature. But fate has new plans for Olivia, plans which will force her to rely on every ounce of strength, brains and craftiness she’s got — simply to survive.” Tell Me a Story‘s second season will air later next year.
