UPDATE: Percy Jackson took the stage at San Diego Comic-Con earlier today, discussing its upcoming third season. We now have a premiere date along with an announcement trailer. Season three arrives on Disney+ on November 20.
Disney+ gave fans their first look at Percy Jackson and the Olympians season three during the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con. According to Variety, attendees were shown the opening scene from the upcoming season, while star Walker Scobell (The Adam Project, Looking Through Water, Secret Headquarters) also shared that the new episodes will remain faithful to Rick Riordan’s (The Lightning Thief, The Battle of the Labyrinth, The Last Olympian) third novel, The Titan’s Curse.
The footage opens with Thalia Grace, played by Tamara Smart (Resident Evil, The Worst Witch, A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting), battling a monster in a parking garage before Percy arrives to assist her. After defeating the creature, Annabeth Chase, played by Leah Sava Jeffries (Beast, Something from Tiffany’s, Rel), reveals she asked Percy to help recruit Thalia for a mission to rescue two young demigods and bring them safely to Camp Half-Blood. The scene also continues the tension between Percy and Thalia established during the second season.
During the panel, Scobell told fans that season three is the most faithful adaptation of Riordan’s books to date. The upcoming season will adapt The Titan’s Curse, following Percy, Grover Underwood played by Aryan Simhadri (Freakier Friday, Cheaper by the Dozen, Trevor: The Musical), Annabeth and several new allies as they attempt to rescue Annabeth and the goddess Artemis from the Titan Atlas.
Returning cast members include Charlie Bushnell (In the Know, Diary of a Future President, Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord) as Luke Castellan, Daniel Diemer (The Half of It, Under the Bridge, Absolution) as Tyson and Dior Goodjohn (Glee, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Head of the Class) as Clarisse La Rue. New additions to the cast include Levi Chrisopulos (FBI) as Nico di Angelo, Olive Abercrombie (Outer Range, The Haunting of Hill House, Mayfair Witches) as Bianca di Angelo, Saara Chaudry (The Breadwinner, Holly Hobbie, Odd Squad) as Zoë Nightshade, Hubert Smielecki (Ransom Canyon) as Apollo, Kate McKinnon (Barbie, Saturday Night Live, Ghostbusters) as Aphrodite and Ming-Na Wen (Mulan, Street Fighter, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as Hera.
Based on Riordan’s bestselling fantasy series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians was created by Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg (Black Sails, Human Target, The Old Man). Steinberg serves as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Craig Silverstein (The Invisible Man, Pantheon, Turn: Washington’s Spies) and Dan Shotz (Black Sails, National Treasure, The Old Man).
A premiere date for Percy Jackson and the Olympians season three has not yet been announced.
