Saturday morning, San Diego Comic-Con hosted a Star Trek panel that included various new cast announcements, clips and release dates. The moderator was Scott Mantz, who began by showing viewers the original Star Trek poster. Son of Star Trek creator Eugene ‘Rod’ Roddenberry Jr. took the stage as he spoke on how Star Trek transformed the sci-fi genre.

“The story isn’t about science fiction, it’s about us.” Roddenberry stated.

The first portion of the Star Trek panel highlighted its 60th anniversary with actors from across the vast franchises. Guests included George Takei, Karim Diané, Jerry O’Connell, Christina Chong, Michael Dorn, Robert Picardo, Cirroc Lofton, Dominic Keating, Michelle Hurd and Doug Jones.

Next, they discussed the second season of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, set to air later this year. The new series made a splash at SDCC in 2025, before premiering earlier this year. The also announced a new character named Keetz who will join the final season. Keetz is set to be  played by Ruaridh Aldington.

An exclusive clip featuring characters from the animated series, Star Trek: Scouts, showed JR (Hudson Brooks), Sprocket (Monique Thomas) and Roo (Dominique Skye Turner), attempting to save Hall H from a meteor. The second season is set to premiere on Star Trek Day — September 8 — coinciding with the franchise’s 60th anniversary.

Finally, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds was showcased, included panelists Alex Kurtzman, Paul Wesley, Anson Mount, Melissa Navia, Akiva Goldsman, Henry Alonso Myers, Rebecca Romijn, Celia Rose Gooding, Ethan Peck and Chong. Chong also invited her dog Runa who trotted throughout the panel table, greeting the different panelists. Season four premiered July 23 and will run through Thursday, September 24. Navia reminded its fifth season will be its last.
