Screenwriter LaToya Morgan Signs Deal With Warner Bros. Television Group

Screenwriter and producer LaToya Morgan (The Walking Dead) inked a big deal with Warner Bros. Television Group, according to Deadline. The deal is expected to last for three years.

Under the new deal, Morgan will be developing, writing and producing new television projects through her recently launched production company TinkerToy Productions. The projects will air across all platforms including on-demand and streaming services (such as WarnerMedia’s HBO Max), broadcast, premium and cable networks.

This recent deal comes after Morgan’s previous back-to-back deals at AMC expired in April. During her time at AMC, she facilitated the creation of the network’s Inclusion Initiative, which develops and mentors new talent. From the initiative directly, sci-fi project Farmhand and dark comedy Of Two Minds were formed. She will continue as an executive producer on HBO Max’s Age of Miracles, which is co-produced by AMC.

In the works for Morgan with WBTVG already is the crime drama Duster in collaboration with J.J. Abrams (Star Wars franchise, Lost). They will be co-writing and executive producing the project, which was ordered straight-to-series at HBO Max. The drama is set in the 1970s Southwest and follows a getaway driver whose life, as described by The Hollywood Reporter, “goes from awful to wildly, stupidly, dangerously awful.” The project hails from a partnership between Abrams and Katie McGrath of Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros. Television Group.

Morgan previously was a writer on The Walking Dead. She also is known for being a co-executive producer and writer of AMC’s Into the Badlands. Other production and writing credits include TURN: Washington’s Spies, NBC’s Parenthood, and Showtime’s Shameless.
