According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix is working on a Nanny Diaries series with Scarlett Johansson (Jurassic World Rebirth, Lost in Translation) executive producing. The series will be based on the 2002 novel The Nanny Diaries by Emma McLaughlin (Citizen Girl, Nanny Returns) and Nicola Kraus (The Best We Could Hope for, The Real Real). Johansson, in the 2007 film based on the novel, will serve as an executive producer on the project from Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions. Amy Chozick (The Girls on the Bus, House of Cards) and Jenny Bicks (Sex and the City, The Greatest Showman) are adapting the novel and will serve as showrunners on the possible Netflix adaptation.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, the series follows Annie, a broke, aspiring writer in search of a story who takes a nanny job for a magnetic Upper East Side socialite. The logline for the Netflix series reads: “When she lands the book deal of her dreams to go undercover and expose the salacious lives of the ultra-rich, Annie must try to keep up this double life even as she grows attached to the people and this world … and finds out what her elusive boss is actually capable of.”
