Saturday Night Live is adding three new comedians to its cast.
TV Guide reports that Mikey Day, Alex Moffat, and Melissa Villaseñor will be joining the SNL cast for the 42nd season. Day, Moffat and Villaseñor join returning cast members Vanessa Bayer, Beck Bennett, Aidy Bryant, Colin Jost, Kate McKinnon, Kyle Mooney, Bobby Moynihan, Cecily Strong, Kenan Thompson, Sasheer Zamata, Michael Che, Pete Davidson and Leslie Jones.
Mikey Day is not new to the Saturday Night Live, but this will be his first time as one of the actors. Day has served as a writer for SNL since 2013 and as the head writer for Maya & Marty. In addition to writing for Maya & Marty, day also was a cast member for the variety comedy series.
Alex Moffat is a comedian who hails from Chicago. He’s been a featured performer at The Second City, Zanies, The Comedy Bar and The Annoyance. His film credits include an appearance in Uncle John and he starred as Bill Clinton in the two-person musical Hill n’ Bill.
Fans of America’s Got Talent might remember Melissa Villaseñor after she made it to the top 16 in 2011 for her hilarious impressions. She has showcased her talents on YouTube and other social media pages with the dream of ultimately being a cast member on SNL. She previously auditioned in 2009 but didn’t get a part as a member of the cast. Villaseñor has also lent her talented voice on Adventure Time and Family Guy.
The casting announcement comes barely a month after the most recent casting shake-up in which Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah were seemingly inexplicable let go.
With the new additions, Saturday Night Live will enter its 42nd season with a full cast.
