After an initial teaser FX released the first trailer for the third season of The Bear, via Variety. The Emmy-winning comedy/drama is set to return with all episodes on June 27 exclusively on Hulu. View the anxiety-inducing trailer below.
The trailer picks up where season two left off, with Jeremy Allen White’s (The Iron Claw, Movie 43) Carmy leading his league of underdogs to new territory as the hole-in-the-wall, The Beef, transforms into the series’ namesake. While the restaurant embraces this new sophisticated change, the same nail-biting tensions remain as Carmy and the gang battle to keep the dream afloat.
While the trailer is only a mere 42 seconds, we see snippets of errors in the kitchen and on the main floor of the posh dinner space. Ayo Edebiri’s (Bottoms, Inside Out 2) Sydney clashes with cousins Carmy and Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s (No Hard Feelings, Fantastic Four) Richie, citing the kitchen’s dysfunction. The two jointly respond with “Show me a functional one!”
According to Variety, the third season will see the return of most of the main cast including Abby Elliott (How I Met Your Mother, Odd Mom Out) as Carmy’s sister Natalie aka Sugar; Matty Matheson as handyman Fak; Liza Colón-Zayas (Keane, David Makes Man) as chef Tina; and Lionel Boyce (The Jellies, Jackass Forever) as baker Marcus.
The series, which won several Emmys including Best Comedy Series and acting awards for White and Edebiri, is expected to flood the nominations again this time around for season two. According to Variety, the Outstanding Guest Actor/Actress in a Comedy Series category could see repeat offenders given the number of guest appearances throughout the season. The sixth episode alone, entitled “Fishes,” boasted turns for Jon Bernthal (We Own This City, Origin), Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween, Knives Out), Bob Odenkirk (Nobody, Better Call Saul), Sarah Paulson (Mr. & Mrs. Smith, American Horror Story), and John Mulaney (Big Mouth, Mulaney). The season also shined with appearances from Will Poulter (Shameless, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3) and Olivia Coleman (Marvel’s Secret Invasion, Landscapers).
As fans await the third season to arrive, rumor has it the fourth season has already begun production. Two seasons in one year is a blessing from the TV gods, but could also mean the end is near. Another FX comedy, Atlanta, took the same approach filming seasons three and four consecutively, ending the series within the same year.
All eight episodes of The Bear arrive on Hulu on June 27.
