Ryan Murphy Teases ‘American Horror Story’ Season 10 and More

After the season finale of AHS 1984, co-creator Ryan Murphy gave an interview with Deadline. Murphy spoke on his ideas for season ten, which cast members he wants to come back, and his other projects.

Murphy hinted that the next season could be the last of the show. In his contract with FX, season ten is the last season for American Horror Story. That doesn’t mean that has to be the final season though. FX renewed the show for two more seasons in August of 2018 before the eight season even started. John Landgraf, CEO of FX, told Deadline then, “Murphy asked for a 10th season of American Horror Story, which we were happy to give to him.” Later adding, “Part of what’s cool about American Horror Story is its anthology nature. So, it comes down to whether Ryan and his collaborators, like Tim Minear, could come up with stories that they are excited about.”

In his interview with Deadline, Murphy talked about his ideas of bringing back some fan favorites. “We’re working on an idea for Season 10 that I think people will love because it’s about reuniting fan-favorite actors to come back — because it may be our last season,” Going on to explain, “It’s the last season we have contracted. So, I’ve been quietly reaching out to various people. Some people I haven’t reached out to yet because I was like, ‘Do I have a role for them?’ So far, everybody I reached out to said ‘Yes,’ so that’s been great.”

When asked if Jessica Lange, Sara Paulson, and Evan Peters would be coming back he replied, “Too soon to tell, but I’ll just sort of say, the people who helped build this show into what it is, who believed in it from the beginning, have been contacted and are interested.”

Murphy also touched on his show Scream Queens that was canceled after two seasons. “Emma said she would do it, Lea Michelle said she would do it, Jamie Lee Curtis, Abigail Breslin, Billie Lourd are all in. So it would depend if Fox wants to do it. I think we’d all do it. I think we’re waiting for them to call us.”

American Horror Story is avaiable on Netflix or Hulu. Scream Queens is available on Hulu.
