‘Run The Burbs’ Being Streamed On Hulu

According to Deadline, the Canadian comedy Run The Burbs has officially been bought by Hulu. Hulu struck the deal with Fifth Season, and the first two seasons are set to drop on New Year’s Eve. This will be a mere few days before the third season drops on CBC in Canada.

Deadline states the show stars Andrew Phung (Kim’s Convenience) as a stay-at-home dad whose entrepreneur wife and two kids each live life to the fullest. The Vietnamese/South Asian Canadian family’s unique approach to life flips the script on what suburban life is supposed to look like, offering audiences a new perspective on family values.

Along with Phung, Deadline reports the series stars Julie Nolke (Workin’ Moms, The Wedding Rule), Ali Hassan (Sort Of, Designated Survivor), and Aurora Browne (Baroness Von Sketch Show) among others. The show is produced by Pier 21 Films. Executive producers of the show include Phung, Laszlo Barna, Nicole Butler, Karen Tsang, Scott Towned, and Vanessa Steinmetz. Phung is represented by Oldfield Talent Management.

The TV Distribution President of Fifth Season, Prentiss Fraiser, said Run The Burbs is definitely a continuation of this tradition,” via Deadline. “Hulu is the perfect partner to bring the Pham family to audiences in the U.S., and we couldn’t be more excited for Andrew’s hilarious, uplifting and inclusive project to launch on the service.”

Fraiser also praised other comedies like Run The Burbs, says Deadline. She praised shows such as Schitt’s Creek, Workin’ Moms, and Kim’s Convenience as incredible home-grown hits” on CBC.

Deadline revealed that the deal comes after The CW gained the right to the show but it was then pulled only a few weeks ago. However, the show is still on The CW app as well as the website. The news also came after the big news that the Hulu app is being combined with Disney, which was announced a few months ago.
