According to Variety, comedian Ronny Chieng (Interior Chinatown, The Daily Show) has joined the cast of Hulu’s upcoming King of the Hill revival as the new voice of Kahn Souphanousinphone. Chieng takes on the role of the character for the new season airing on the streamer on August 4. The role of Kahn was previously voiced by Toby Huss (Copshop, Halt and Catch Fire) through the show’s first 13 seasons, from 1997 to 2009. Huss will now be voicing Dale Gribble in the revival, replacing the late Johnny Hardwick (The Monster Hunter, Ruta Awakening), who passed away in 2023.
Below is the new official trailer for the 14 season of King of the Hill.
The character Kahn is married to Minh and father to Connie, as the series synopsis notes via Variety, “Kahn is Hank’s Laotian neighbor who lives with his wife Minh. Khan is arrogant and has maintained his superiority complex towards his Arlen neighbors. He is ultra-competitive and often butts heads with Hank as he attempts to “win” at life. He loves his daughter Connie, but tries to control her life and thinks she is too good to associate with Bobby Hill.”
As per Variety, Chieng will be joined by many of the original cast of the series, which includes Mike Judge (Beavis and Butt-Head, Common Side Effects), Kathy Najimy (Hocus Pocus, Sister Act), Pamela Adlon (Better Things, Mid-Century Modern), Johnny Hardwick (The Monster Hunter, Ruta Awakening), Stephen Root (Office Space, Barry) and Lauren Tom (When a Man Loves a Woman, Andi Mack).
The official logline for the revival of King of the Hill via Variety, reads as follows: “After years working a propane job in Saudi Arabia to earn their retirement nest egg, Hank and Peggy Hill return to a changed Arlen, Texas to reconnect with old friends Dale, Boomhauer and Bill. Meanwhile, Bobby is living his dream as a chef in Dallas and enjoying his 20s with his former classmates Connie, Joseph and Chane.”
