Rohain Arora & John Ray Dy Buco Join The Cast Of Netflix’s ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’

The cast of Netflix’s live action version of the popular Nickelodeon cartoon, Avatar: The Last Airbender, is starting to take shape with Rohain Arora (Superman & Lois) and newcomer John Ray Dy Buco set to join the cast, according to Knight Edge Media. The live action series was first announced to be coming in 2018.

Arora is best known for his role as Tom Mitchell in The CW’s Superman & Lois and most recently made an appearance in the comedy film, A Grand Romantic Gesture. Dy Buco has not made an appearance in a film or show as of yet and comes from a background of singing and dancing.

It is unclear who the two actors will be playing and it is unclear how significant their roles in the upcoming series will be. It is also unclear as to whether they will be playing an established character from the animated series or if they will be playing new characters.

The upcoming series was originally set to be created by the original Avatar: The Last Airbender creators, Michael Dante DiMartino (The Legend Of Kora) and Bryan Konietzko (Republic City Hustle), but they announced in 2020 that they were no longer involved with the show. The showrunners for the show are now Albert Kim (Sleepy Hollow), Dan Lin (The Lego Movie), Lindsey Liberatore (The Day After Tomorrow), and Michael Goi (American Horror Story), according to IGN.

There are a few confirmed members of the cast that will play major roles in the series. Gordon Cormier (Lost In Space), Kiawentiio (Anne With A E), Dallas Liu (Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings), Ian Ousley (13 Reasons Why), Daniel Dae Kim (For The Love Of The Game), and Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (Kim’s Convenience) among others will be starring in the series, according to IGN.

It is unclear when the series will release on Netflix, but production is expected to wrap up in June, according to Knight Edge Media.
