Rob Lowe has been chosen as the ‘honoree’ for Comedy Central’s next roast special.
According to Deadline, the roast of Lowe will film in Los Angeles and is set to premiere this summer. Lowe joins an eclectic group of previously roasted celebrities including Justin Bieber, James Franco, Charlie Sheen, David Hasselhoff, Bob Saget, Joan Rivers, William Shatner, Denis Leary and Donald Trump.
There is no word yet on who the roastmaster will be for Lowe’s special, although in keeping with the last few roasts it will most likely be a comedian with some connection to Lowe. Lowe’s roasters will probably be a mix of friends and comedians. While Lowe is the only person announced to appear so far, it is almost a guarantee that roaster extraordinaire and former host of Comedy Centrals The Burn Jeff Ross will be there in style as he has been for the past twelve roasts.
Lowe, like some of the previous roastees, is in on the fun and said, “What a thrill to once again be following in Justin Bieber’s footsteps. I look forward to a night of hilarious jokes recycled from the James Franco Roast. I would like to express my gratitude to the members of my family who have passed away and therefore will not have to endure what promises to be a very special evening.”
Comedy Central has already starting laying into Lowe. Kent Alterman, Comedy Central President, said, “Rob Lowe is handsome, talented succesful and handsome. He needs to be roasted.” The Comedy Central twitter account has given an idea of what’s to come:
Lowe has been working constantly in television recently. He has starred in Parks and Rec, You, Me and the Apocalypse, The Grinder, The Lion Guard and Comedy Central’s own Moonbeam City.
