‘Ripley’ Trailer: Andrew Scott Takes On The Role of Grifter Tom Ripley In New Netflix Limited Series

Deadline reports that Andrew Scott (Fleabag, All of Us Strangers) portrays the cunning grifter Tom Ripley in the upcoming Netflix limited series, Ripley, scheduled to debut on April 4th. The latest trailer, available in the video below, offers a glimpse into Ripley’s relentless determination to achieve his goals.

Adapted from Patricia Highsmith’s (The Price of Salt, Deep Water) acclaimed Tom Ripley novels, Scott embodies the lead role, portraying a cunning grifter navigating the gritty streets of early 1960s New York, According to Deadline. Tasked by a wealthy employer, Ripley ventures to Italy to coax his wayward son back home, marking the inception of a treacherous journey into a world rife with deception, swindling, and homicide.

In addition to Scott, Deadline reports the cast of Ripley features Dakota Fanning (I Am Sam, Man on Fire) as Marge Sherwood and Johnny Flynn (Stardust, One Life) as Dickie Greenleaf. Supporting roles are played by Eliot Sumner (The Gentleman, No Time to Die), Maurizio Lombardi (The Young Pope, Citadel), Margherita Buy (My Mother, A Brighter Tomorrow), and John Malkovich (Being John Malkovich, In the Line of Fire)

According to Deadline, Ripley is a co-production between Showtime and Endemol Shine North America, in collaboration with Entertainment 360 and Filmrights. The executive producers include Steven Zaillian (Schindler’s List, Gangs of New York), Garrett Basch (The Night Of, What We Do in the Shadows), Clayton Townsend (Born on the Fourth of July, Natural Born Killers), Guymon Casady (Entertainment 360), Benjamin Forkner (The Flagmakers, Good People), Philipp Keel (Diogenes), and Sharon Levy (Endemol Shine) and Charlie Corwin (Endemol Shine). Additionally, Scott is set to serve as a producer on the series.

Per Deadlinethe eight-episode limited series, directed and written by Steven Zaillian (A Civil Action, The Night Of), was originally slated for Showtime. It shifted to Netflix before Showtime’s integration into Paramount+.
