According to Deadline, the comedy sci-fi drama Resident Alien has been renewed for fourth season. The series, which started on Syfy, has now moved to its sibling network at its new NBCUniversal home, USA Network. Originally, the sci-fi series was not going to get a fourth installment, but the move to a new network was the most viable option to get a fourth season with a significant budget reduction.
As per Deadline, the new transfer gives USA Network a second new scripted, series which joins the recent addition of The Rainmaker. The once-thriving scripted brand the network was known for in the 2000s and early 2010s is returning.
Resident Alien follows an alien named Harry who crashes on Earth with a secret mission and tries to blend in with his new environment. Harry finds himself in a small town in Colorado and must try to survive while hiding his mission to destroy humanity. The show was based on the Dark Horse comic series by executive producer Chris Sheridan (Yes, Dear, Family Guy) who will serve as showrunner for the new season as he has since the beginning of the series.
The series cast includes Alan Tudyk (Creature Commandos, Doom Patrol) as Harry, Sara Tomko (Once Upon a Time, Sneaky Pete) as Asta, Corey Reynolds (The Closer, The Terminal) as Sheriff Mike, Alice Wetterlund (People of Earth, Naughty) as D’Arcy Bloom, Levi Fiehler (Ray Donovan, The Fosters) as Mayor Ben, Judah Prehn (The Ghost, Summer Skewl) as Max, Elizabeth Bowen (Animal Control, Upload) as Deputy Live, Meredith Garretson (The Offer, Prodigal Son) as Kate, Gary Farmer (The Curse, The English) as Dan and Kaylayla Raine (Hostpital, Show,Fight) as Jay.
According to Deadline, the series’ third season averaged 3.3 million total viewers and one million in the 18-49 demo across all platforms during its first 35 days on air earlier this year.
All seasons of Resident Alien are available to stream on NBCU’s streamer Peacock.
