The popular streaming platform, Netflix, solidified its position with the viewership chart of 2024-25. According to Screenrant, the latest data released from Nielsen shows a staggering dominance, with the streaming giant claiming an overwhelming majority of top-performing shows, which includes Squid Game and Adolescence leading the charge with an astonishing 27.1 and 19 million viewership within their first 35 days of release. Even some of the newer entries from the platform such as Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story and Nobody Wants This have quickly made their way into the ranking as well.
The current ratings go on to show how Netflix can release new content while sustaining the appeal of its established franchises. According to Screenrant, what this goes on to show is Netflix’s consistent ability to provide viewers with newer variety of content, while other competing platforms such as Prime Video and Paramount+ are trying to catch up with hit shows, Yellowstone and Reacher. Furthermore, additional platforms that have failed to make it onto the list are Disney+, Hulu, Peacock, and Apple TV+.
Keeping up with everything on television has become challenging, primarily due to rising subscription prices. According to Screenrant, while Netflix has maintained a reliable service, other companies and studios, such as Disney+ and Hulu, have attempted to find their niche. They have produced some notable original series, but their long-term success has been lacking. For instance, Disney boasts only five series in the top 100, with just one making it into the top 50.
Every company and studio has sought to carve out a stake in the streaming market, but Netflix holds a reputation for reliability. According to Screenrant, with highly anticipated new seasons of fan favorites such as Wednesday and Stranger Things on the horizon, Netflix’s dominance within the entertainment industry will continue to grow, further prove that the power of their extensive content library will forever change the streaming landscape.
