According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS has ordered a spinoff of hit series Yellowstone titled Y: Marshals. The series will star Luke Grimes (Fifty Shades of Grey, American Sniper), who will reprise his role as Kayce Dutton. The spinoff is one of a growing list of Yellowstone offshoots, including upcoming series The Madison and prequel series 1883 and 1923.
The series will follow Dutton as he and an elite team of U.S. Marshals use their skills to dispense justice in Montana. Spencer Hudnut (Seal Team, Unforgettable) will act as showrunner while Taylor Sheridan (Hell of High Water, Wind River), John Linson (Lords of Dogtown, Sons of Anarchy), Art Linson (Into the Wild, Fight Club), Ron Burkle (The Giver, 3 Days to Kill), David Hutkin (The Agency: Central Intelligence, Tulsa King), Bob Yari (Crash, Agent Cody Banks), and Grimes will take on executive producer roles, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
The network has greenlit several other spinoffs, including Blue Bloods spinoff Boston Blue starring Donnie Wahlberg (Saw II, The Sixth Sense), FBI spinoff CIA starring Tom Ellis (Lucifer, Isn’t It Romantic), and Fire Country spinoff Sheriff Country starring Morena Baccarin (Deadpool, Serenity) for the 2025-26 season. Single-camera comedy DMV starring Hariet Dyer (Colin From Accounts, The Invisible Man), as well as unscripted shows The Road, America’s Culinary Cup, and Harlen Coben’s Final Twist, will also be coming to the network.
CBS will also be moving FBI to Monday nights to pair it with CIA, while Fire Country will follow Sheriff Country on Friday nights. Boston Blue will also take over Blue Bloods’s Friday, 10:00 PM slot, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Matthew Grey Gubler (Criminal Minds, Alvin and the Chipmunks) led procedural drama, Einstein, which was initially planned for the 2025-26 season, has since been postponed until the following season. The network has also ordered 12 scripts for Robert and Michelle King’s (Elsbeth, The Good Wife) Silicon Valley series, Cupertino.
