Reba McEntire-Led Comedy Series ‘Happy’s Place’ Coming To NBC

The previously untitled Reba McEntire (Big Sky) comedy series has just received a series order! According to Variety, the series, which was first greenlit in January, is entitled Happy’s Place and is set to be a multi-camera production. Happy’s Place is also anticipated to premiere sometime during the network’s 2024-25 broadcast season.

As reported prior, Happy’s Place features Bobbie, as portrayed by McEntire, who has her world turned upside down when she inherits her father’s restaurant and finds out that she has a new business partner attached: a long-lost half-sister she never knew she had, as portrayed by Belissa Escobedo (Blue Bettle)

The cast also comprises of Tokala Black Elk (Yellowstone), Melissa Peterman (Reba), Rex Linn (Rush Hour) and Pablo Castelblanco (Alaska Daily). Universal Television produces Happy’s Place

Kevin Abbott (Roseanne) is slated to write the series and serve as an executive producer along with Julie Abbott (Our Town), Michael Hanel (Rita Rocks), McEntire and Mindy Schultheis (Titus).

Variety notes that this project will reunite this production crew, which worked together on six seasons of the sitcom Reba from 2001 until 2007. Reba first aired on The WB and later became home to The CW. Schultheis and Hanel executively produced all six seasons, with Kevin Abbott joining as an additional executive producer after its first season.

Schultheis and Hanel have also executive produced another series starring McEntire, Malibu Country, on ABC. The series aired on the network for one season from 2012 until 2013, with Abbott behind the scenes for multiple episodes.

Variety also notes that McEntire’s TV credits after Malibu Country include recurring roles on Young Sheldon as June and the third season of Big Sky as Sunny Barnes. Additionally, McEntire is judge on The Voice for NBC.

Kevin Abbott’s other TV credits include producing and writing numerous series, including The Golden Girls and Roseanne. Most recently, Abbott worked on the series Cristela and Last Man Standing
