Saturday Night Live has officially announced it’s 2019 debut, which is January 19th, with host Rachel Brosnahan and musical guest Greta Van Fleet. Brosnahan shared nbcsnl’s post on Instagram, showing her excitement for hosting the popular sketch show saying, “A thing I neverevereverevereverevereverevereverever thought I’d say…I’ll be hosting SNL on January 19th. 😵”

Broshnahan won her second Golden Globe for her role as Miriam “Midge” Maisel in the Amazon original, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, yesterday (June 6th). She was also nominated for a Primetime Emmy award in 2015 for her role as Rachel Posner in House of Cards. She can also be seen in Patriot’s Day, The Finest Hours, and The Blacklist.
The actress, who’s signature color seems to be yellow, had an interview with Glamour back in May of 2018 where she shared how she almost quit pursuing comedy because casting agents kept telling her that she wasn’t funny. She shared, “They’d say things like, ‘you know, we really enjoyed meeting her, she gave a really good read, we’d love to see her again for something else- she’s just not funny'”.
So she decided to focus her time mostly on dramas and passed on auditions that were comedy-related until the script for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel essentially fell on her lap. Now, having won not only one but two Golden Globes for her role as a stand-up comedian, she is getting the chance to host Saturday Night Live– a dream/bucket-list marker for most actors and actresses. You can watch the full interview below.
Be sure not to miss Rachel Brosnahan and Greta Van Fleet on SNL, January 19th at 11:30 P.M. EST/PST on NBC.
