Russell T. Davies is writing two UK’s Channel 4 dramas, Banana and Cucumber.
The Queer as a Folk and Doctor Who producer Russell T. Davies is working on two new dramas for UK’s Channel 4. Both miniseries, Banana and Cucumber, are thematically linked and explore the 21st-century gay life.
The two projects are set in the British city of Manchester, where the original version of Queer as Folk also took place, and will “explore the heartbreak and the joy of modern sex lives,” according to Channel 4.
Cucumber focuses on how the comfortable life of fortysomething Henry and his boyfriend is shattered by a truly disastrous date night involving a death, a threesome, two police cars and the Glee Christmas album.
Banana follows the contrasting lifestyles of younger characters on the periphery of the Cucumber narrative, including a young lesbian, Scotty, and 19-year-old Dean.
