Queen Maeve’s In Memorium from ‘The Boys’ Releases during The Oscars

During the 95th annual celebration of the Oscars, Vought International, the mythical superhero/pharmaceutical company in The Boys, released an Academy Award style tribute to one of their characters Queen Maeve, played by Dominique McElligott (The Boys: Diabolical, House of Cards, Leap Year) According to ScreenRant. Maeve is often used as a marketing tactic in the television universe, especially after she released her sexual preference to the media-obsessed public; her entire identity became based around inclusive advertising and LGBTQ+ based commercializing.

The In Memoriam was posted just a few hours prior to the Academy Awards, on Vought International’s Twitter account.” The video tribute is compiled of black and white slow-motion pictures of the iconic hero, the video was put together with an alternative agenda by Vought International who was lobbying to have their long catalog of superheroes integrated into the United States military.

The post reads “Tonight, we honor Queen Maeve with this emotional In Memoriam at the Supie Awards. A hero on and off screen, her acting in Dawn of the Seven and Her Majesty will be studied by performing arts students at Godolkin University for years to come. Rest In Pride, Queen!”

Maeve was an original, and the token female member, of the Seven, Vought’s A-List superhero team. She witnessed several atrocities committed by Homelander, played by Anthony Starr (The Covenant, The Boys: Diabolical, American Gothic), most notably him letting a commercial airplane full of civilian passengers crash into the ocean leaving no survivors. After her breaking point (Vought using her sexuality for marketing), Maeve uses the black box from the crashed plane to keep the evil Superman spoof in line and hopefully not go on another murderous rampage.
In the third season of The Boys, Queen Maeve actually faked her death when she tackled a nuclear Soldier Boy, played by Jensen Ackles (Rust, Supernatural, Dawson’s Creek), attempting to destroy Vought Headquarters with all the activists and heroes inhabiting the upper floor. Maeve and Soldier Boy flew out the window and exploded while plummeting toward the cement ground. Soldier Boy survived but remained comatose, giving Maeve the perfect opportunity to escape the insane corporation and the homicidal superhero, Homelander.
Now powerless from the nuclear blast and free from Vought’s reign, Maeve runs away with her partner Elena, quitting the superhero business seemingly forever. Making her return to The Boys is extremely unlikely to return to season four although her “sacrifice” and brand image will still be used throughout future seasons.
