S.W.A.T Exiles wraps up show after eight long seasons of the crime drama that aired on CBS. The show was announced in May of 2025 and it is unknown when it airs on streaming services.
According to Deadline, a screening for the first time and first episode will be shown in Culver, California on February 11th. The show is planning a second screening in New York as well as London. S.W.A.T Exiles already has over 600 RSVPs and is expecting many more.
Deadline confirms that holding off for a buyer of the show was a strategy, not a weakness, so Sony can gain control of its Creative rights in May. The show was built on a foundation made from assisting on projects like Heated Rivalry and Hunting Wives, which worked in the shows favor. Many more channels were interested in the show other than Fox and Prime like HBO Max and Netflix which ask for high quality yet low cost production.
“I actually feel like, timing wise, there’s probably more potential avenues than there were in May,” Katherine Pope, President of Sony Pictures Television Studios tells Deadline.
According to Deadline, S.W.A.T Exiles executive producer Jason Ning (Perception, Lucifer), is withdraw from the force after a big case goes south. The protagonist is forced out of retirement to train the new guys. The show has a new cast and fan favorites alike, including Jay Harrington (Better off Ted, octopus) and Patrick St Esprit (I Am Wrath, Killing Reagan).
In May, Deadline confirms that CBS is canceling the show after the third season in March. This is after a mere two weeks of Ning pitching his idea for the show in May and getting a green light. The reason was supposedly to keep Ning before his contract was up. The show now tops number five at most international platforms.
We started feeling really good about the cast. We started feeling great about the scripts,” Pope tells Deadline “We’re like, you know what? We’re going to have something, and it’s going to be better. The buyers are going be able to actually see and feel it. There is really nothing to substitute for having a season.”
Sony gets a $15.7 million credit where it was shot. Sony plans to spread the show to buyers and people that they have agreements with in place so they can take their time with the show.
