Production for Season 4 of ‘Emily in Paris’ on Netflix Paused Due to WGA Strike

The first season of Emily in Paris premiered on Netflix in 2020. Since then, the show has gained great deal of popularity. The third season premiered on December 21st, 2022, and it was quickly renewed for a fourth season. However, filming for the fourth season has been postponed due to the Writers Guild of America strike

Emily in Paris, created by Darren Star (Beverly Hills, Sex and the City), focuses on a woman named Emily Cooper and her life in France. Lily Collins (To the Bone, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones) plays Emily, who is a budding marketing executive. She finds a job under Sylvie Grateau played by Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Two Brothers, Call my Agent!).

Throughout the series, Mindy Chen, played by Ashley Park (Joy Ride, Beef), serves as Emily’s main support system when she finds herself with both relationship and career problems.

Other stars of the show include Lucas Bravo (Ticket to Paradise, The Honeymoon) as  Gabriel, Lucien Laviscount (Trust, The Bye Bye Man) as Alfie, Kate Walsh (Grey’s Anatomy, Thirteen Reasons Why) as Madeline, Camille Razat (Mastemah, (Girl)Friend) as Camille, and more.

Season three of Emily in Paris ends with a dramatic cliffhanger when a wedding between two of the characters does not go as planned. With relationships ending, pregnancy announcements, and confessions of love, fans are left with more questions than answers.

According to Variety, actress Leroy-Beaulieu provided some insight into the filming process during the Cannes Film Festival in May.

When asked if the filming process had to be paused, Leroy-Beaulieu stated, “A little bit. We’re waiting for it to be resolved. We’ll see how it settles!”

Originally, filming was supposed to begin in Paris at the end of the summer or the beginning of fall. However, as Variety notes, filming has now been delayed by at least two months.

The WGA Strike continues to delay the production of many highly anticipated shows, including Emily in Paris. Therefore, fans will have to wait a bit longer than expected to see how the characters pick themselves back up after the tumultuous wedding.
