Prime Video’s ‘The Boys’ Descends Into Rome For World Premiere Event Ahead Of Final Season Premiere

Thursday, March 19, Prime Video’s YouTube channel and The Boys‘s IG profile streamed the show’s fifth season world premiere event live from Rome, Italy. The event, held at The Space Cinema Moderno, preempts the final season arriving on screens everywhere on Wednesday, April 8. Executive producer and showrunner, Eric Kripke (Supernatural, Revolution) was joined by the main cast to celebrate the highly anticipated finale to the hit comic book series.

Karl Urban (Xena: Warrior Princess, Star Trek) and Antony Starr (Banshee, Breakers), our very own Billy Butcher and Homelander, graced the red carpet along with Jack Quaid (The Hunger Games, Novocaine), Erin Moriarty (Captain Fantastic, Gen V), Jessie T. Usher (Survivor’s Remorse, Pulse)  Laz Alonso (This Christmas, Avatar: Fire and Ash), Tomer Capone (Slingshot, Fauda), Karen Fukuhara (Stone Cold Fox, Craig of the Creek), Colby Minifie (Fear the Walking Dead, Lemons), Jensen Ackles (Supernatural, Countdown), Nathan Mitchell (Arrow, Ginny & Georgia), Susan Heyward (Orange is the New Black, Delilah) and Valorie Curry (Detroit: Become Human, House of Lies).

Premiering in 2019, the series is based on Garth Ennis (Preacher, Hitman) and Darick Robertson’s (Happy!, The Boys Presents: Diabolical) comic that imagines a world where superheroes train and audition in hopes of joining Vought’s The Seven, a twist on the Justice League. However, their liberty and justice for all persona is a facade for a ruthless, toxic environment manipulated by political lobbyists, corporate interests and warped ideology. When Huey (Quaid) experiences tragedy due to a hero’s complete negligence, he’s recruited to join Billy’s The Boys, a ragtag team bent on exposing Vought’s corruption. Four seasons later, Hughie and the team rally for one final battle for America’s soul.

The fifth season’s synopsis is below:

In the fifth and final season, it’s Homelander’s world, completely subject to his erratic, egomaniacal whims. Hughie, Mother’s Milk, and Frenchie are imprisoned in a “Freedom Camp.”  Annie struggles to mount a resistance against the overwhelming Supe force. Kimiko is nowhere to be found. But when Butcher reappears, ready and willing to use a virus that will wipe all Supes off the map, he sets in motion a chain of events that will forever change the world and everyone in it.  It’s the climax, people. Big stuff’s gonna happen.
