Prime Video Reveals First-Look Images at Psychological Thriller ‘Wilderness’

Deadline reports that Prime Video has released multiple first-look images for Marnie Dickens’ (Thirteen, Gold Digger) psychological thriller series Wilderness from Firebird Pictures. The series is written and created by Dickens and based on the B.E. Jones (Where She Went, The Lies You Tell) novel of the same name. It is a twisted love story, where a “happily-ever-after” and a dream vacation quickly turn into a living nightmare.

Jenna Coleman (Doctor Who, The Sandman) and Oliver Jackson-Cohen (The Haunting of Hill House, Surface) star as a British couple, Liv and Will. They seem to have it all: a glamorous life in New York, a rock-solid marriage, and a golden future ahead of them. However, Liv learns of the affair. The American road trip Liv has fantasized about since she was little becomes a chance to make amends to Will, but to Liv it is a landscape where accidents happen all the time and the perfect place for revenge.

The couple bump into Will’s colleague Cara, played by Ashley Benson (Pretty Little Liars, Bring It On: In It to Win It), while they are exploring the American wilderness. Cara is a young woman with a great career and an adoring boyfriend, Garth, played by Eric Balfour (Haven, Six Feet Under). Liv’s plans are ruined and Cara and Garth soon find themselves entangled in Will and Liv’s lives in a way that will change the course of their future’s as the group goes hiking together.

According to Deadline, Dickens said, “Who doesn’t know someone who’s been cheated on? That gut punch on discovery, the trail of paranoia and suspicion it leaves behind, the difficulty of trusting again. It’s enough to tip anyone over the edge. And that’s where we meet our heroine, Liv, as she’s lied to over and over by the man she loves. Of course she wants revenge, and I, for one, hope she gets it,” regarding the themes of the story.

Wilderness will be directed by So Yong Kim (In Between Days, For Ellen) and executive produced by Dickens and Elizabeth Kilgarriff (Luther, Bodyguard). It will launch globally on Prime Video this fall.
