Created by Tracy Oliver (The Blackening, Girls Trip), Harlem debuted on Prime Video in December 2021. The series was renewed for a second season, which premiered in February 2023. According to Deadline, over ten months after the premiere of season two, Harlem has been renewed for a third season.
As Deadline notes, Oliver spoke about the renewal, stating “The only thing more fun than making season 2 of Harlem was getting to travel across the country and watch it with our fans. Thanks to everyone who showed up to support and watch it at home! We’re so grateful for all the love and can’t wait to bring you an even juicier season three.”
The series revolves around four friends in Harlem, New York City as they navigate life in their thirties. The cast includes Meagan Good (Stomp the Yard, Day Shift) as Camille Parks, Grace Byers (Empire, The Blackening) as Quinn Joseph, Jerrie Johnson (Mother’s Milk, Good Trouble) as Tye Reynolds, Shoniqua Shandai (Make Me Scream, Miss Arizona) as Angie Wilson, and more.
According to Deadline, the Head of Television for Amazon Studios Vernon Sanders stated, “Harlem has continued to tell outrageously hilarious stories through the perspective of these uniquely special characters.”
He continued, “Fans can look forward to more laughs, wit, and cultural commentary from the brilliant mind of Tracy Oliver and the amazing cast, Meagan, Grace, Jerrie, and Shoniqua. This critically acclaimed series has been embraced by so many and it is a privilege to bring season three to our global Prime Video customers”
In addition to Oliver, executive producers include Kim Lessing (Three Busy Debras, Moxie), Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation, Inside Out), Dave Becky (Insecure, Russian Doll), Mimi Valdés (Hidden Figures, Carmen), and Pharrell Williams (Hidden Figures, Despicable Me).
