Prime Video released the highly anticipated trailer for its upcoming series, Citadel: Honey Bunny, the India version within the Citadel franchise, which became a global success back in 2023.The sci-fi espionage series will be directed by Raj Nidimoru (The Family Man) and Krishna DK (Go Goa Gone), who also created the film agency D2R Films, which will be behind the production. Additionally, the series will be written by Sita R. Menon (99).
The trailer tells of the actress Honey, played by Samantha Prabhu (Eega), who gets recruited by Bunny, played by Varun Dhawan (Baby John), to join their spy agency, where she is thrown into a world filled with danger and action. Several years later, the duo’s past returns, and they must do everything to protect their daughter, Nadia, played by Kashvi Majmundar.
The trailer offers a glimpse into the ensuing battles that both Honey and Bunny will have to face, and like the original series, they will unlock new mysteries along their journey. Raj and DK stated in an interview with Prime Video, “Citadel: Honey Bunny is a significant project for us as it has given us the opportunity to be part of a larger, unprecedented world of spies and espionage that has never been done or even attempted before. We have created all our projects so far, but Citadel: Honey Bunny is our first collaboration. And that it is with the creative forces like the Russo Brothers, as well as a host of talented filmmakers and creators around the world, that made this an amazingly valuable creative experience.”
This series has the potential for future spin-off series to be created in other parts of the world, which will attract new viewers. While fans await further news surrounding the approaching spy thriller series, the first Citadel series, which starred Richard Madden (Eternals) and Priyanka Chopra Jonas (Baywatch), is available to stream on Prime Video.
