According to Deadline, Prime Video is looking to greenlight a spinoff of their successful drama series, Reacher. The new series, which is in pre-development, is titled Neagley and is based on the popular character Frances Neagley, who appears in Reacher seasons one and two.
Reacher, which is scheduled for a season three, follows the chronicles set out by author Lee Child (Killing Floor, One Shot) in his Jack Reacher book series via mxdwn. The story “follows a retired military police officer named Jack Reacher who is arrested for a murder he didn’t commit. Due to this, he finds himself in the middle of a deadly conspiracy that is full of dirty cops, shady businessmen, and even scheming politicians,” continues mxdwn, with each season adapting from one book in the Jack Reacher series. Season one of Reacher is adapted from Killing Floor, and season two from Bad Luck and Trouble per mxdwn.
In the Reacher series, Frances Negaley is a “corporate security professional and former military colleague of Jack Reacher in the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit” via Deadline. Negaley is played by Maria Sten (Channel Zero, Swamp Thing), while Jack Reacher is played by Alan Ritchson (Titans, Ordinary Angels).
In season two, Neagley takes on the role of Jack’s sidekick, winning the hearts of viewers. Negaley’s character was so well received that Prime Video made sure to clarify Sten’s return in season three. However, according to Deadline, the season will be based on Persuader, a book that does not include Negaley.
Neagley will be executive produced and developed by Nicholas Wootton (NYPD Blue, Scorpion) in ties with showrunner and executive producer of Reacher, Nick Santora (Prison Break, Most Dangerous Game) via Deadline. Neagley will be produced by Skydance Television, Amazon MGM Studios and CBS Studios. Paramount TV Studios was co-producer on the Reacher series but was absorbed by CBS Studios.
While Neagley is in its early phases of production, Reacher is available to stream exclusively on Prime Video.
