According to Deadline, Prime Video is gearing up for a major presence at San Diego Comic-Con with its popular series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. This year at SDCC, in anticipation of the season two premiere on August 29, Prime Video will host an exclusive, invite-only press and influencer reception on Thursday, July 25, in San Diego. The event will be followed by a panel in Hall H on Friday from 11:05 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., featuring showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay (Escape, Flash Gordon), along with the cast, offering fans a sneak peek at season two.
Following the panel, a fan meet-and-greet with the cast will take place at 1:45 p.m. at Venue 808 in San Diego in collaboration with the official Lord of the Rings fan site, TORn. Deadline reports that the event will feature a curated collection of costumes and props from the second season.
As reported by mxdwn.com, Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power made a memorable impact with a cast and creator dinner preceding its Hall H panel at SDCC in 2022. Fans were treated to an exciting musical score preview conducted by composer Bear McCreary (Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Battlestar Galactica) with a full choir and orchestra. This event marked the debut of season one characters and their actors to enthusiastic audiences. Prime Video enhanced the experience by utilizing Hall H’s wrap-around screens, originally installed by Warner Bros years ago.
Alongside Payne and McKay, additional executive producers of the Prime fantasy series include Lindsey Weber (Star Trek Beyond, 10 Cloverfield Lane), Callum Greene (Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, Pacific Rim), Justin Doble (Stranger Things, The Path), Jason Cahill (Fear the Walking Dead, Halt and Catch Fire) and Gennifer Hutchison (Better Call Saul, The Strain). Charlotte Brändström serves as co-executive producer and director. The show’s producers include Kate Hazell (Guardians of the Galaxy, Andor) and Helen Shang (13 Reasons Why, The Man Who Fell to Earth). Co-producers include Andrew Lee (Reno 911!, P.S. I Love You), Glenise Mullins (Outer Range, Warrior) and Matthew Penry-Davey (The Nevers, Devs).
