The upcoming 19th episode of this season of Pretty Little Liars will be in all black and white, in a full film noir style.
TVGuide broke the news that ABC Family is airing a special episode of Pretty Little Liars completely in black and white, resembling an old movie.
It’s not the first-time the show looks for inspiration in the past, since there have been multiple episodes with touches of antiquity; for example, this year’s Halloween episode’s costumes were inspired in the 1920s.
“ABC Family noticed what we were doing visually on the show, going for very noirlike effects,” said PLL‘s executive producer, Joe Dougherty, “and asked if we wanted to go all the way and make something special in black and white.”
Toby Cavanaugh (played by Keegan Allen) and Spencer Hastings (Troian Bellisario) will be the stars of this special episode, acting as a private eye and a seductress, respectively.
The episode is scheduled to air on February 11 on ABC Family.
