‘Pokémon Concierge’ to Touch Down on Netflix Late December

Something new within the Pokémon world is coming to Netflix! Pokémon Concierge is a peculiar, animated miniseries coming to Netflix in late December. According to Variety, this will be the first collaboration between the network and the Japanese firm, The Pokémon Company.

In a development from our last story, the miniseries will feature stop motion and hand-drawn animation, with four episodes of 14-20 minutes each. The series is set to be available to the public on Dec. 28.

Pokémon Concierge’s logline offers a good look into what’s coming.

“When Pokémon need a break, they head to a peaceful resort to relax, looked after by a team of Pokémon concierges,” said the logline via Variety and Netflix, “The story follows newcomer Haru as she learns how to take care of Pokémon guests that include Pikachu, Eevee, Dragonite and Magikarp. And as Haru figures out how to make her guests happy, she ends up discovering a new side to herself.”

The show is directed by Ogawa Iku (Hidari, I Think You’re a Little Confused) and derived from a screenplay by Harumi Doki (Anniversary, Re/Member.) Dwarf studios produced this miniseries, and the concept art and character design are by Uesugi Tadahiro.

An iconic Japanese singer named Mariya Takeuchi, known for her presence in City Pop, a Japanese music genre in the 80s, sings the theme song, “Have a Good Time Here.”

Pokémon Concierge will host both English and Japanese voice actors.

English voice actors include Karen Fukuhara (The Boy and the Heron, Suicide Squad) portraying Haru, Imani Hakim (Everybody Hates Chris, Mythic Quest) portraying Alisa,  Lori Alan (SpongeBob Squarepants, Henry Hugglemonster) as Watanabe and Josh Keaton (Voltron: Legendary Defender, Hercules) playing Tyler.
